The biggest financial threat to your retirement isn't the stock market. It's a nursing home!

At $60,000 to $90,000 a year in Mississippi, a three-year stay can consume everything a family spent 40 years building. And Medicare, the program most people count on, covers almost none of it.

Medicaid will cover long-term care, but it has rules. Specifically, a five-year lookback that means planning done after the fact doesn't count.

The families who protected their estates didn't get lucky. They planned while they were still healthy.

A concrete example.A couple with $200,000 in savings puts a child through college, pays off a house, and retires modestly. A three-year nursing home stay at $80,000 a year leaves nothing. The surviving spouse starts over.

What the five-year lookback actually means. Most people don't know. Explain it in one plain sentence: "If you transfer assets within five years of applying for Medicaid, Mississippi counts them as still yours."

What you do about it. You mention the Legacy Protection Plan on your homepage but never here. Name it. Tell them what the plan does, what one appointment looks like, what it costs relative to $90,000 a year.
